About the Author:
M. Ann Richards, MA, has worked in education departments at the ArtConnection, at the Smithsonian Associates, at the arts liaison office of the London borough of Croydon, and at the Wolf Trap Institute of Early Learning Through the Arts, where she served as associate director. She interned in the education department at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and has been an “artist in the schools” since 1982. She currently teaches in the Studio Arts Department of theSmithsonian Institution Her articles on creative teaching have appeared in Washington Families, Washington Parent, Early Childhood News, PBS Teacher Source, and Children and Families.
