Sample Licenser
Self-Evaluation Tool
Wherever we go, directors tell us that working with licensers and monitors is an
issue for them. The experience and responsibilities of a director and a licenser
usually differ greatly, which can lead to an adversarial rather than a supportive
relationship. On the other hand, when licensers come to their work with an
early childhood background, we have seen wonderful partnerships formed with
directors and creative problem solving with an attitude of mutual support.

In our seminars with licensers we often offer this assessment tool to alert
them to the knowledge they need in forming partnerships with directors. We
reprint it here as a resource for you to use with your licenser and as a set of con-
siderations should you consider becoming a licenser in your career path.
