Make health education a fun and interactive part of your curriculum!
Growing, Growing Strong reinforces the importance of teaching self-care, as well as tackling difficult topics such as death, alcohol and drug use, and dealing with difficult emotions.
This training is designed for programs implementing the comprehensive health education curriculum, Growing, Growing Strong, which provides developmentally appropriate activities in health and safety education, nutrition, transportation, mental health, self-help skills, and other topic areas. This training program emphasizes the importance of early childhood health education with activities and topics including those that are familiar (such as handwashing) and those in which early care and education staff may feel less comfortable with (such as emotions and emotional situations). Ready-to-use materials include a PowerPoint presentation, trainer?s guide, reproducible handouts in both English and Spanish, and evaluation forms. At the end of the session, the participants will be able
to:
identify appropriate and essential health education topics for children
identify ways to integrate Growing, Growing Strong curriculum in their daily lesson plans
