July Redleaf Tickler
July's Tickler is from Barbara W. in Parsons, KS: One sunny afternoon my husband was talking with a friend who had undergone surgery for TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disease. As a result of the surgery, Mark's jaws were wired shut. Our four-year-old son, Jesse, who never stopped moving or talking, became engrossed in watching Mark try to talk. Jesse squatted down with his hands under his chin, intently looking up, uncharacteristically quiet. After several studious minutes he inquired, "Mark, why are your teeth in jail?" Poor Mark. The laughter was inevitable, and for him very painful!
