Curtis and Carter explain how early childhood educators can create a child-centered curriculum for children ages three to five, with a separate chapter on infants and toddlers. They describe assessment of the learning environment, developmentally appropriate practice, approaches to theme planning, building relationships, curriculum planning, and teacher roles and dispositions. This edition has two new chapters on teaching academics in a meaningful way and guiding children as they play and learn. It addresses new standards and has new teaching stories, with postscripts added to previous ones.
