To be most effective, literacy experiences should be integrated throughout the entire daily schedule. This companion to The Creative Curriculum for Preschool describes seven components of literacy: vocabulary and language, phonological awareness, knowledge of print, letters and words, comprehension, books and other texts, and literacy as a source of enjoyment.
Literacy offers techniques and strategies teachers can use to promote literacy, including reading aloud; storytelling; and talking, singing, and playing with language. Classroom examples model appropriate language and actions. Guidance is offered for including literacy experiences in all eleven Creative Curriculum interest areas of the classroom and throughout the daily routine, with more than thirty activities for teachers to use.
The Trainer's Guide to the Creative Curriculum, Vol 2 is also the trainer’s guide for this title.
