This work is a companion handbook for those using the author's Go Green Rating Scale to evaluate and improve areas such as air quality and exposure to lead, pesticides, ceaners, body care products, art supplies, and plastics in early childhood facilities. It shows how to make improvements in every area of the rating scale, and will be useful in training and educating staff as they begin using the rating scale. It can be used as a reference when purchasing new equipment and doing new construction. The book contains extensive background information on every area rated in the scale, and criterion-by-criterion explanations of the rating scal'es language and intent. It gives specific directions on how to collect information to evaluate the facility, and specific actions to improve conditions. Sample letters to families and sample schedules for inspection and improvements are also provided. There is an extensive bibliography of web and print resources.
