Hepatitis A is spread through contaminated food and drink. Hepatitis B can be spread through infected blood and blood products. Children can get hepatitis by touching the blood of someone who is already infected. They can also become infected if they stick or cut themselves with a contaminated object, such as a needle or razor. Teach children to avoid touching blood and objects that may have blood on them.
