70 chapter 3
Celebrate all of the children’s encounters and en-
deavors with art. Find the joy and wonder along
the way—for the children, as well as ourselves! It is
easy to create wonderful and stimulating art expe-
riences for children. You are providing an early love
of art and fostering creative art experiences to last a
lifetime! I tell my children, “You are the artist. You
decide how you want to create your work!”
When I set out the long brushes, they reminded this child of splatter

This child decided he needed more paint, so he went and got it.
The scraper on the foil left smooth tracks, which made
this child think of a road, so she got a truck to make
He then decided to do monoprints!
