Introduction play, allowing ample time for high-level play to develop, and acting as play
facilitators. In chapter 5, individualization and differentiation for each
child will be discussed. Balancing adult-guided and child-guided activities
will be explored in chapter 6, and building relationships with children and
families is the focus of chapter 7. Chapter 8 focuses on integrating authen-
tic assessment and curriculum. And last, chapter 9 revisits the planning/
observation/individualization cycle and considers what happens when
various elements are missing.
