3.17 Wrecking BallPendulum
This activity allows children to discover some of the properties of
a pendulum as they use it to try to knock down blocks. Mount the
pendulum frame on a -thick plywood base, 18 by 12 inches.
Make the sides of the frame from æ-inch wood, 16 by 1 inches.
Make the top from æ-inch wood, 12 by 1 inches. Screw the
frame together and suspend the pendulum weight (a wooden ball)
from a screw eye.
This activity is appropriate for either preschool
or kindergarten children.
